Our contributors are busy in their gardens, too – Anne is replenishing her basil stocks, David Domoney is sharing his advice for bumper sweetcorn harvests and Nick Bailey is discussing the interesting history of brassicas. As well as this, the queen of herbs, Jekka McVicar, answers the burning questions you might have about growing these fragrant plants. If you want to focus on your fruit garden this month, the RHS is on hand, with a brilliant guide to growing your own cherries, and top tips on starting strawberries from seed. As well as all of this, we are stepping into the wellbeing garden, with some quick wins to help you feel great, sharing a simple step-by-step on making your own home-grown echinacea tea. We are also looking at the best crops to start this month, and even teaching you to love your weeds – yes, really!

NOVEMBER ISSUE:

Take stock of the season and start looking ahead to what you could achieve on the plot over winter, as well as looking to next season’s plans. Our contributors still have plenty to do in their own gardens. Anne is cultivating sweet potatoes, Nick Bailey covers the history of strawberries and David Domoney provides all the information you need to grow delicious blueberries. This time of year is ideal for assessing your fruit garden, and the November issue is packed with expert advice to guide you through this process. Why not consider nut trees, too? This month the RHS is on hand to discuss growing cobnuts and filberts. RHS experts are also sharing their top tips on heeling in your crops, growing hedges for shelter and adding exotic salsify to your plot. This issue also features a great DIY project, making a planter from an old tyre, a look at vegan gardening, a detailed garlic focus and much more!

DECEMBER ISSUE:

Reflection is really important during this part of the season, as it is good to slow down and take stock – but also, there’s still lots to do! Anne Swithinbank and David Domoney are getting to grips with bulbs – onions and garlic respectively – while Emma from Garden Organic is sharing some brilliant perennial veg you should add to your plot next year. As well as this, the RHS is on hand to share some top advice on avoiding waterlogging on your plot, growing quince, staking trees and more! It also wouldn’t be the December issue without a look at growing your own Christmas veg, turning your plants into decorations, and an overview of some of the best gifts for gardeners.
